Position Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and driven Investment Manager Jr to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong scientific background, coupled with significant experience in startups and innovation. This role requires an autonomous and self-motivated individual who is passionate about disruptive technologies and their potential impact on society.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Scouting for Startups:
   • Identify and evaluate promising deeptech startups in sustainability, mobility, manufacturing and Ai-Advanced Robotics sectors.
   • Conduct thorough due diligence and market analysis to assess investment opportunities.
2. Executing Investments:
   • Manage the end-to-end investment process.
   • Prepare investment material for internal review.
   • Support Due diligence.
3. Supporting Portfolio Companies:
   • Act as Honda’s representative on the boards of portfolio companies.
   • Support strategic synergies between startups and Honda
   • Provide strategic guidance and operational support to portfolio companies to drive their growth and success.
4. Managing Strategic Partnerships:
   • Develop and maintain relationships with venture capital firms, accelerators, and other strategic partners.
   • Collaborate with partners to identify co-investment opportunities and foster joint initiatives.
   • Support strategic partnerships with Honda R&D
5. Developing Brand Image:
   • Represent Honda Xcelerator Ventures at industry events, conferences, and networking functions.
   • Enhance the visibility and reputation of Honda Xcelerator Ventures within the innovation ecosystem.

Qualifications:

• Education: Advanced degree in a scientific or technical field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Physics).
• Experience: 2-3 years in venture capital, startups, or innovation-focused roles.
• Skills:
  • Strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Excellent communication / soft skills.
  • Interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and drive projects to completion.
  • Cultural agility and ability to navigate diverse environments.
• Attributes:
  • Passion for disruptive technologies and their potential for societal impact.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, flexible and adaptable.
  • Curiosity and eagerness to stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Not mandatory but would be a plus:
  • Experience with Japan and understanding of Japanese business culture.
  • Existing network within the startup ecosystem.
  • Existing experience in corporate innovation.
  • Existing network withing VCs / universities.
